Heart Disease or Stroke
DO YOU HAVE A HISTORY OF HEART DISEASE OR STROKE?
Dr. Stanley Stringam is pleased to be involved in a clinical research study investigating whether an experimental drug lowers the chances of having a heart attack or stroke, in persons who are at increased risk for such events. The medication being studies works on receptors in the brain and fat cells. The study will look at whether the investigational medication decreases weight and improves other conditions that increase the risk of heart attack and stroke, such as diabetes and certain blood fat abnormalities. You may be eligible to participate if you meet the following criteria;
1) Are you aged 55 or older?
2) Do you have abdominal obesity defined as >40" for males and >35" for females?
3) Have you had any of the following?
A heart attack in the last 3 years
Stable Angina (chest pain) with multivessel heart disease with strictures in at least 2 coronary arteries OR
A history of having had a heart stenting procedure known as a PCI or multivessel bypass surgery known as a CABG
If you are able to answer YES to at least three of the above and want to find out about the additional criteria necessary to see if you qualify, please call the study coordinator Teresa Crook at 208-288-4982 or email tmcrook@saltzermed.com
