Therapists can help return patients to activities they are accustomed to whether it is at work, playing sports, gardening, walking safely, or just getting dressed in the morning. What is Occupational Therapy? Occupational therapy is the comprehensive rehabilitation of the elbow, wrist, and hand resulting from repetitive strain or traumatic work-related injuries. It also addresses activities of daily living, focusing on the functions such as dressing, grooming, and home safety to improve independence at home, in particular for patients in post stroke and similar conditions. Physical Therapy is the scientific professional service to treat patients with disability, disease, or injury, with a goal to achieve and maintain function. Additionally, it is rehabilitation to prevent malfunction or deformity, with treatment designed to minimize residual disability and return to full function. It is prescribed for patients with varied orthopedic, neurological, vascular, or respiratory conditions that may be the result of a disability acquired through injury, disease, or inherited dysfunction. Our physicians have immediate access to the medical records and the progress notes from our thereapists because we all document in a common relectronic medical record, even if the therapist is at a different location.
